Discover the healing power of stroke rehabilitation

Stroke is the leading cause of serious, long-term disability and the fourth-leading cause of death in the United States. Our hospital is working to change those statistics by providing a few tips to help reduce your risk of stroke and warning signs of how you can identify that a stroke is occurring.

Take action on stroke by following these preventative tips:

  • Eat healthy to maintain a healthy weight
  • Exercise regularly with doctor’s approval
  • Keep diabetes blood sugar levels in check
  • Limit alcohol consumption
  • Maintain a healthy blood pressure
  • Stop smoking
  • Treat high cholesterol

Take action on stroke by learning the warning signs:

  • Numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • Severe headache with no known cause

If warning signs occur, immediately call 911.
